MARQUETRY WORKSHOPS

As part of his 2012 tour of Australia and New Zealand, Silas Kopf will be holding one of his acclaimed marquetry workshops at David Emery’s studio in Kyneton in early March.

Combining great technical virtuosity with an engaging sense of whimsy, Silas is widely regarded as one of the leading exponents of his craft. His work is held in both public and private collections, but perhaps just as important is his experience as a teacher and mentor.

All places for the two day workshop have been filled, but Silas has agreed to make a special visual presentation of his work available to the wider public on Friday 2nd March at 8.00pm.  Silas will speak not only on the technical aspects of his craft, but will discuss the history of marquetry, and the link between particular historic pieces and individual pieces he has made.  The tools, equipment and materials to be used in the workshop will also be on hand.
