CURRICULUM VITAE - MAJOR COMMISSIONS
2017
This year saw the opening of a new restaurant as part of the Royal Mail Hotel complex at Dunkeld in Western Victoria. To be known as Wickens at Royal Mail Hotel, the restaurant features a wonderful dining space designed by Byrne Architects, I was pleased to be asked to make the cellars displaying the restaurant's acclaimed wine collection.
2016
The private library begun in 2015 became the sole project for the year, including the fabrication of the curved staircase, cantilevering from free-standing curved book shelving rising to over five metres the highlight of the project.
2015
This year we continued our long association with Image Interiors under their new name - Pad Furniture. Several proposals for new furniture items and an exciting new range of veneers and finishes for our existing range are under consideration.
Work has also begun on the fabrication of furniture components for a fabulous private library currently under construction in rural Victoria. Marcus O'Reilly, with whom I have worked over many years, is the architect for this project.
2014
The Piper Street Food Company opened new cooking school and cafe facilities this year, and we were please to be asked to make the sales counters, along cafe table, and three huge tales for the cooking school. These were done using 4mm thick end grain squares of elm from the Kyneton Gardens, pressed onto ply torsion box table tops to give the appearance of a traditional butcher's block, with the advantage of stability and light weight.
A smaller table using similar technique was also made for a private client, this time laying the thick veneers in strips at angles across the table top, with a laminated round leg at each corner.
2013
Currently working on the internal joinery and fittings for a beautiful home being built high on a hillside overlooking the fabulous granite country to the north of Lancefield in central Victoria. Built curving around the contour of the hill, the design presents both a challenge and a great opportunity, with black flecked sassafras and stained oak featured in the joinery. Design: Marcus O'Reilly, Architect.

The dining chairs were developed for this project, and have now been incorporated into our range as the "Kaye" chair.
